After hosting THE BLUE WAY Audition Experience camps in Austin, TX, Canton, OH, and Mission Viejo, CA over the course of the last few weekends, the Bluecoats’ 2010 season is off an excellent start!
While the corps has historically held winter audition and rehearsal camps in their home city of Canton, OH, 2010 marks the 9th season of hosting camps in Texas, and the first year of holding camps in Southern California. With nearly 70 people participating in Mission Viejo, CA, Mike Jackson, a top Southern California-based percussion instructor and the Bluecoats’ percussion caption head, was thrilled with the corps’ first ever camp in the area. “There is a ton of talent in this area, and it was great to allow them an affordable opportunity to experience what the Bluecoats are all about.”
In addition to learning all about the corps’ unique approach to music & visual performance training, and auditioning for the 2010 season, students participating in all three camps had the exciting opportunity to play through a small excerpt from John Mackey’s “Asphalt Cocktail,” a piece the corps plans to include in their 2010 program. The Bluecoats will make a complete announcement regarding this year’s show in the weeks to come—stay tuned to bluecoats.com for more details!
The Bluecoats are excited about a strong start to another great season. “We are extremely pleased with the turnout of both new talent and returning veterans at the first few camps of the 2010 season,” stated Bluecoats’ Executive Director David Glasgow. “We were thrilled to again see so many talented young people from across the country excited about being a part of our organization! “
