James Freeman
Brass Instructor

James Freeman began his musical studies at age 7 with the Regina Lions Band program in Saskatchewan, Canada, touring and competing for 10 years trumpet and 1 year on snare drum under arranger and clinician Tom Float. He went on to study trumpet performance at Montreal's McGill University, completing a Bachelor and Master of Music degree.

Currently, James resides in Toronto and works as a freelance trumpet player and is on faculty at the Kingsway Conservatory of Music. He has performed with the Oshawa-Durham Symphony, Hamilton Philharmonic, Toronto Symphony, Opera Ontario, and is the Artistic Director of the Urban Arts Brass Ensemble. As a soloist, James has appeared with the National Academy Orchestra and the Scarborough Philharmonic.

2010 is James' seventh season as an instructor with the Bluecoats. He has also taught with Troisieme Regiment from St-Eustache, Quebec and was a member of Star of Indiana.
