Bob Higgins continues to excel in his role as Bluecoats Brass Instructor, a position he's held since 2006 Bob's previous drum corps experience includes 4 years with the Glassmen brass staff (93-96), as well as performing Contrabass with the 1984 Santa Clara Vanguard and 2000 Empire Statesmen.

Bob holds a Music Degree (Performance-Trombone) from Oberlin Conservatory, Master of Music (Performance-Trombone) from the University of Akron, and Master of Arts in Education (Secondary Math) from the University of Akron. While in graduate school, Bob directed the Trombone Choir, and assisted with the Brass Choir, during which time he honed his composition/arranging skills. Bob's music has been performed by the Toledo Symphony, Keystone Brass Institute, Blue Devils Alumni Project, Vanguard Trombone Quartet, and a myriad of Colleges, Universities and High Schools throughout the USA.

During the 2009-2010 school year, Bob joins Oberlin's Faculty as Visiting Teacher of Brass Studies, focusing on Orchestral Repertoire for Brass.

Prior to Bob's current profession as Computer Programmer/Database Administrator, he performed for 11 years as Bass Trombonist of the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Bob has been proudly singing Bass II in the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus since 1999, having since performed in such venues as The International Music Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, Carnegie Hall in NYC, Luzerne Music Festival in Luzerne, Switzerland, and The Proms at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
